Do you use time as an excuse not to do something that could make a big impact in your business, and your bank account?
For example, do you hold yourself back from marketing yourself because Mercury is in Retrograde, so it’s not the right time? Or do you have the “Yet” syndrome and stop yourself from investing in yourself, your business. Or do you put off getting coaching, knowing it will get you where you want to go faster, but tell yourself “it’s not the right time yet”, “things aren’t aligned yet”, “I’m not ready yet”?
Let me talk about this time trap thing, because it can be an excuse that leads you to stagnation and financial struggle. This time thing, and not being “ready yet” idea, is something I have struggled with in my own business.
While it is true that there is a time for everything, or “there is a season and a time for every purpose” as the Seekers song from the sixties says… We can use time as an excuse not to pull finger, seize the day, and do the very thing we need to, in order to get the goal we’re working so hard for. And then we can winge about why things aren’t happening fast enough, or get frustrated with the day to day struggle of building a business and a stable client base.
Our amazing creative intelligent mind, in it’s relationship to our subconscious mind, can play mind games on us, and use time as an excuse to stay safe in our comfort zone, or current condition.
How do you know the difference between when it’s time to drop your excuses and make a move, or when it’s legitimately not the right time to proceed with something?
It’s a good question to ask ourselves.
- The first thing we can do is realise that the possibility exists that you are using time, and not being ready, as an excuse. Awareness and recognition of the possibility, opens up your mind to greater knowing in any situation.Shutting your mind off and not even being prepared to entertain the idea actually cuts off blood supply to the right brain, which is where our intuitive guidance is recognised, and our creative problem solving ability is enhanced. So be willing to entertain the idea that you might be using time as an excuse to move forward in some area of your life.
- The next step would be to ask yourself if you’re are using time as an excuse. Is your idea of not being ready, really masking your fear of success or fear of failure?
Advance By Asking Quality Questions
Asking quality questions of our Greater Being is always a good place to start. The more we ask quality questions directly to our Greater Being, rather than out there in the big WIDE Universe that includes everything, the more we develop a good relationship with our Inner guidance system. Eventually we make better decisions, once you’ve got good at this practice of asking quality questions directly to your Greater Being that dwells within.
Let’s do an exercise together using this quality questioning idea.
You want to recall something you’re not doing right now, or something in the past, where you thought “it’s not the right time’ – choose something that you’re putting off. Anything will do, it doesn’t have to be a big thing.
When you’ve got that situation you want to name it. I have an example right now where i’m hesitating to enter the dating scene. I’m divorced and single and I might be making the excuse that it’s not the right time, and I’m not ready. I’ve got other things I want to do first. Because I’ve been saying that for a while now… So here’s how you’d name that…
Concerning dating, you’d name the topic, am I using time as an excuse to not take action? And you listen deep within your being.
Now I like to keep my eyes open and look down, then listen deep within the core of my being. I find if I close my eyes sometimes it takes me directly into my mind which makes it more difficult to really listen. You might find keeping your eyes open and down helpful. Or you may prefer to close your eyes. Up to you.
I’m listening to my heart, is it uplifting or sinking? Am I feeling anything in response to the question. Is there any thing rising to the surface of my awareness. I get quiet, and I listen.
So you may be procrastinating about investing money in marketing your business. So you would say,
“Concerning marketing my business, am I using time as an excuse to not take action?” And you listen deep within your being. What knowingness is coming to the surface?
You may be hesitating to invest in coaching that could get you to your goals faster and with certainty. So you would say,
“Concerning getting coaching, am I using time as an excuse to not take action?” And you listen deep within your being.
What knowingness is coming to the surface?
The more you practice this type of enquiry the more you you will begin to realise when knowingness is filtering into your body and your awareness. You’ll get confirmation beyond excuses.
You just need to watch out for the “monkey mind” that is always going to kick in first and chat to you – tell you what to do, or support your excuses. That monkey mind is why most people play small and stay small. So don’t listen to it. Practice listening more deeply in your being.
When you listen to your monkey mind and you follow the instructions you often feel relieved. That’s because you’ve relieved the pressure of being on the edge of your subconscious mind safety zone. Your safety zone goes phew, narrow escape. Was almost going to go into the unknown and actually get somewhere with my business. And that makes me feel uncomfortable and fearful.
But when you listen to your inner knowingness and realise this is the very thing you need to do, you’ll recognise it. You’ll resonate with it. You’ll have a feeling of positive resignation knowing you need to take action. It’s very different from the feeling of being relieved.
Now when you get knowingness, the most important thing to do is take action. The reason for that is because the more time your leave between receiving knowingness on what you need to do, and acting on it, the more opportunity for resistance to pop up and that monkey mind to get the better of you. That’s where stagnation and getting stuck begins to occur right there in your hesitation to act on intuitive knowing.
That means to you that you’re taking a slow road to your goals, you’re probably leaving money on the table, and you could be unnecessarily struggling for longer than you need to you. Don’t struggle a moment longer than is necessary.
I hope you use this technique that has seen me make better and better decisions over the years, and you find it useful. I’d love your feedback. Be sure to post your comment below.
From Time To Opportunity
One last thing about this time thing. And this is big out there in quantum physics land. I believe we’re probably always using time as an excuse, because we believe in linear time rather than opportunity.
It’s been my experience that when an opportunity crosses your path for advancement, that’s the time to jump on it because that’s the moment that will quantum leap you to greater results faster. Instead of plodding along in struggle over time.
So ask yourself this. What would happen if you seized opportunities for advancement with more frequency than you are right now. Where would you be in a year’s time compared to where you’d be if you just kept doing things they way you are now, using time as an excuse to plod along getting mediocre results if you’re getting any at all?
Where would you be in a years time if you took action on opportunities as they crossed your path?
Our belief that things takes time, means we are living within a limited construct of time itself. That sounded a bit Matrix-y. I think I just morphed into Morphius. But it’s true. Our belief that things takes time, means we are living within a limited construct of time itself, and therefore we’ll experience the limitation we experience right now.
Now if we start looking at everything in terms of opportunity for expansion, instead of time….. Well that’s where the big results are, and we’re going to transform the world. We’re going to be part of a new humanity that is expanding the creative human experience into amazing possibilities yet to be dreamed of.
